DEAR PARENTS,
Welcome to the first newsletter of 2008!  I hope you had an enjoyable festive season and wish you and your families every happiness for the new year.  Staff and pupils have settled into work routine and are looking forward to a busy and fruitful term.

NEW PUPILS
A warm welcome to Charlotte Connolly (S9), Ridma Galla (J5), Dilshi Galla (J3) and Samuel Akwenuke (P1) who all joined us this term.  We wish them a happy and successful future at our school.

CALENDAR
Please find enclosed calendar for the term.  I shall of course inform you of any additional events as they arise.

SCHEMES OF WORK
You will shortly be receiving current programmes of study for your child.  I hope you find these informative and useful.

YMCA
We are pleased to say that we have arranged for all the Year 9 and Year 10 pupils, both boys and girls, to attend the YMCA during most of their Tuesday PE sessions for the remainder of term.

INTERHOUSE SPORTS
Interhouse Hockey matches were held this week with the following results:
                               Boys                                 Girls
Years 3-6    Wykeham–2   Mauney–1   Wykeham–1   Mauney–3
Years 7-8    Wykeham–0   Mauney–0   Wykeham–11 Mauney–10
Years 9-11  Wykeham–3   Mauney–2   Wykeham–3   Mauney–2

TRANSPORT FOR LONDON
A representative for TFL will be visiting the school on Monday to speak to the senior pupils about citizenship and travel in London.  I hope the session will be informative and enjoyable.

UNIFORM
Please ensure all PE kit and uniform is named – there is still far too much lost property with no visible owners!  Please note that the girls are required to wear their skirts at knee length – any skirts too short will need to be replaced, please.

CHOICE TIME
Choice Time activities will begin next week.  Please ensure you are aware of any activities your child is taking part in.

S11 PARENTS CONSULTATIONS
These will be held on Wednesday 24th January from 4.15-5.15 and 6.00-8.00.  You will have an opportunity to discuss the results from the recent mock GCSE exams and the relevance of these to tiers of entry.  Appointment times will be made in the usual manner.

AND FINALLY……….
Wishing you all a pleasant weekend – hopefully you are all keeping to those New Year resolutions!
