DEAR PARENTS
Hope you are enjoying the mild weather for this time of year! Staff and pupils are all working hard and enjoying life at school. TFL PRESENTATION Years 7-10 enjoyed a most informative and enjoyable presentation regarding behaviour and citizenship on public transport. The pupils asked interesting and intelligent questions and we look forward to further involvement with Transport For London. KNOWLEDGE BOX Staff have undertaken training for this valuable resource and once we receive the relevant hardware, the equipment will be put to good use in the Primary classrooms. LITTLE HAVEN’S CHILDREN’S HOSPICE The Seniors have already raised £300 towards this worthy cause and this week we welcomed Nadia from the hospice to talk to the pupils about the charity. A group of Prefects are visiting Little Haven next week to see their work at first hand. LINKS TO LOCAL LIBRARY We are forging a valuable link with central library, Romford. The Junior children enjoyed a visit to the Library where they were shown how the library system works and how to locate books. We also welcomed Lorraine Barfoot to assembly this week, who entertained pupils and introduced them to the art of storytelling. I was very proud to hear that she was most complimentary about our children and commented on their excellent behaviour and attention during the session. YEAR 9 GCSE OPTIONS Year 9 are beginning to elect which subject options they would like to study for GCSE. I have sent home a preliminary form for them to complete – please ensure it is signed and returned by Tuesday January 29th. OPEN AFTERNOON FOR PROSPECTIVE PARENTS We will be holding an open afternoon on Wednesday March 12th for any prospective parents. If you know of any families who may be interested in a place here for their child, please let them know that they will be most welcome to visit. IMMUNISATION The school nurse is visiting on the 7th March at 10.30 to administer diphtheria, tetanus and polio immunisation to pupils in S10 and any S11 pupils who did not receive immunisation last year. We have received most consent forms; Mrs Carter has contacted any parents who still need to return their forms. AND FINALLY………. Wishing you an enjoyable weekend. |
