Mobile Phones

Mobile phones are now a feature of modern society and most pupils own one, and so it is not realistic to prohibit phones being brought into school.  It is our policy to allow pupils to have a mobile phone with them in school under the conditions outlined in the policy below.

• Mobile phones and personal music players must be handed into the Office every morning and collected at the end of the day.  Should pupils not comply with these instructions, staff may confiscate the item for one week.
• Phones must be switched off (not on silent mode).
• The taking of photographs and/or video footage is strictly forbidden unless the prior agreement of the subject has been obtained.
• No pupil is permitted to take a mobile phone into any public examination.  The examining boards specifically forbid the use of mobile phones in examination rooms; if they are found in the possession of a candidate he/she will be automatically disqualified from the examination.
• Raphael Independent School accepts no responsibility whatsoever for theft, loss or damage to either mobile phones or personal music players.  It is the responsibility of parents and pupils to ensure mobile phones and personal music players are properly insured.
